Mark Elliott
Division President, East Arabia
Mark Elliott is the Division President for East Arabia, leading the expansion of payments, the extension of services, and the adoption of new networks across the region. He is responsible for the overall performance, strategic direction, and brand development of the East Arabia Division. Mark is driven by shaping strategies and partnerships that accelerate the adoption of innovative payment technologies, unlock sustainable growth, and deliver measurable value for businesses and economies.
Mark brings extensive experience building high‑performing leadership teams and strong executive partnerships. He also has a strong track record of serving in trustee and board‑level roles, supporting initiatives that deliver lasting community impact.
Prior to his current role, Mark served as Division President for Africa, where he played a pivotal role in advancing digitization, strengthening commercial performance, and supporting growth across a diverse set of markets.
Mark joined Mastercard in 2011 as Global Products and Solutions Lead for the Middle East and Africa (MEA), based in Dubai, before relocating to South Africa, in 2015, to take on country management responsibilities.
Before joining Mastercard, Mark worked at Barclays Group in London within the M&A team, leading acquisitions and divestments across the Nordics and Europe, before moving into commercial roles based in South Africa and UAE. He began his career as a Chartered Accountant at Arthur Andersen in London, later working at PwC and ING Barings in Hong Kong, with a focus on financial institutions M&A.
Born in London, Mark lived in India and later Hong Kong, where he completed his schooling. He is passionate about travel and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, particularly in dynamic global markets.
