Casablanca, Morocco; 4 July 2024: Mastercard and CMI have entered into a strategic partnership to support the development of co-badge Mastercard/CMI cards and to promote the acceptance of electronic payments in Morocco. This collaboration aims to connect consumers and merchants, offering innovative, seamless and high-value payment experiences (mobile payments, NFC, e-Commerce, and international payments) for all.

CMI and Mastercard will join forces to provide the latest technological solutions to accelerate the transition to a cashless society in Morocco. The agreement will focus on increasing the usage of electronic payments among already equipped merchants and expanding this network to a broader target, as well as  supporting the massive adoption of digital acceptance, particularly among small and medium businesses, including those located in remote areas.

As a historical player in multichannel electronic payment acquisition, CMI places innovation at the heart of its priorities. Its dual objective is to equip a growing number of merchants and provide them with advanced payment solutions, notably through the Mastercard payment gateway, for enriched payment experiences.

“As a catalyst of the digital economy and a key player in the national strategy for financial inclusion, CMI is committed to supporting merchants and consumers by expanding the acceptance of digital payments. Our collaboration with Mastercard, focuses on innovation, and will enable us to make significant progress in improving the payment experience and promoting financial inclusion, thereby reducing cash dependency” said Abderrachid SAIHI, General Manager of CMI.

“At Mastercard, we are committed to harnessing the power of technology and partnerships to build a robust, secure and inclusive digital payment ecosystem in Morocco. We are delighted to join forces with CMI to drive the growth of the country’s digital economy by empowering more businesses with innovative payment solutions,” said Dimitrios DOSIS, President, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa at Mastercard.
