There’s lots to bid for at this year’s Cape Wine Auction

One of the world’s most renowned charity wine auctions, The Cape Wine Auction, is taking place on Saturday, 18 February at the luxurious Hazendal Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.

The Cape Wine Auction is a much sought-after ticket on the South African social events calendar, regarded as one of the most significant international wine charity auctions and one that unites the industry around a single goal of raising money for education.

Since its inception in 2014, the annual auction has created a benchmark in philanthropy, raising more than R117 million, with 100 percent of proceeds going to strategically elected beneficiaries, all of whom are leaders within the education landscape.

These beneficiaries form part of a unique model of collaboration and sharing best practices to accelerate impact and efficiency. A board of trustees with extensive corporate, philanthropic, and entrepreneurial experience works with a full-time trust facilitator to strategically monitor impact and needs.

Items up for auction at this event include unique acquisitions and experiences that are not available for purchase and are never repeated. Some of the exciting lots confirmed for this year’s catalogue include:

A three-night getaway for eight guests at andBeyond Benguerra Island in the Bazaruto Archipelago. It includes a return private charter flight from Cape Town or Johannesburg, return scenic helicopter transfers from the lodge, Vilanculos’ private island guide, dive master and butler, and all meals and local drinks.

A three-night ultra-luxury safari experience for eight guests at the exquisitely appointed Cheetah Plains game reserve.

Three nights for six guests at one of Ellerman House’s exclusive luxury villas in Cape Town.

Other items to bid on include:

• A vast and eclectic collection of close to a thousand wines, with rare vintages dating back to the early 60s and including selected vintages from Kanonkop, Meerlust and Clos des Mouches.
• A six-course wine and food pairing for eight guests, as well as 48 bottles from the world-renowned, single-site specific Art of Creation portfolio; two nights for eight guests in a 5-star private villa at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve; three nights for two guests in Parama 003, one of the best-located 5-star apartments overlooking the V&A Waterfront; and lunch for four at Ellerman House.
