Mastercard Announces 2025 Golden Rewards Lucky Draw Campaign Distributing Over HK$4 Million Spending Credits via Year-Round Draws
April 17, 2025 | Hong KongInitiative aims to further incentivize cardholder spending and boost retail sales, benefiting both consumers and local businesses
Mastercard today announced the launch of its 2025 Golden Rewards Lucky Draw Campaign, aiming to incentivize cardholder spending and drive increased retail sales through the distribution of over HK$4 million spending credits in prizes via year-round monthly and quarterly draws. Building on the successful 2024 campaign, this year’s initiative represents a significant expansion in scale with an extended campaign period and increased spending credit incentives.
The combination of quarterly and monthly lucky draws provides cardholders with more chances and more frequent opportunities to win exciting prizes, boosted by Mastercard’s extensive acceptance network covering merchants across daily necessities, retail, F&B, residential rental, transportation and more. Mastercard cardholders can simply use their eligible Mastercard cards during the campaign period to qualify for entry, with no pre-registration required.
Golden Rewards Lucky Draw Campaign Launch Event Reinforces Mastercard’s Commitment to Hong Kong
At the Mastercard Media Briefing and 2025 Golden Rewards Lucky Draw Campaign Launch event, updates about consumer and commercial cards, as well as insights into the current business landscape were announced.
Helena Chen, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Hong Kong and Macau, Mastercard, said at the event, “Since 2019, we’ve continued to see a steady rise in the spend volume of multi-currency debit cards and the number of such cards in circulation in Hong Kong, underscoring the importance of this market for Mastercard. Reflecting the market developments and cardholder needs, we consistently seek more innovative ways to bring partners together and nurture an ecosystem that benefits different stakeholders. Between 2020 and 2024, we worked in partnership with issuers to launch or revamp over 70 consumer and commercial card programs. In launching this year’s expanded Lucky Draw campaign, Mastercard aims to benefit both consumers and local business, injecting fresh stimulus to support Hong Kong’s economy.”
Furthermore, Helena noted that over 80 percent of in-person transactions in Asia Pacific are now contactless, and that the number of ‘Tap on Own Device’ transactions has grown from 2,000 per month in the last quarter of 2024 to over 5,000 currently. In November 2024, Openrice, a Hong Kong-based foodtech services platform, became the first master merchant in Asia Pacific to adopt the ‘Tap on Own Device’ solution in its mobile app to provide more seamless experience for consumers.
The Campaign Launch event also featured interactive discussions with ten of Mastercard’s merchant partners including Emperor Watch and Jewellery, Exhibition Group Limited, LUBUDS Group, Openrice Limited, PS GROUP, RentSmart, Sino Group, Trip.com Group, Yiu Wing Live Company Limited and YOHO. They shared their views on industry-specific trends, the positive impact of Hong Kong’s mega-event economy, as well as observations on the current macro-economic landscape. They also acknowledged the benefits of partnering with Mastercard for its robust payment solutions and acceptance network that connect merchants, issuers and cardholders both online and offline, as well as its appeal to both domestic spenders and inbound tourists.
