Mastercard Appoints Brazil Country Manager

The company’s new Country Manager, Estanislau Bassols, brings more than 23 years of professional and leadership experience across diverse industries.  He will report to João Pedro Paro Neto, President, Mastercard Brazil and the Southern Cone.

São Paulo, January 29, 2021 – Mastercard announced today the appointment of Estanislau Bassols as Country Manager for Mastercard Brazil.  The executive will join the organization effectively February 15th and will report to João Pedro Paro Neto, President, Mastercard Brazil and the Southern Cone.

In this role, Bassols will be responsible for further driving the company’s strategic vision, innovation and growth agenda and building on its successful purpose-driven culture.  The move, comes as part of Mastercard’s continued investment in Brazil – one of the company’s most important markets globally.

Prior to his appointment, Estanislau was CEO of SKY Brasil, where he played a key role in the company's digital transformation journey and in creating new partnerships and new business with a focus on growth and expansion. Prior to SKY, he was CEO of VR Benefícios for four years, and held a number leadership positions at Telefónica Latin America for more than 15 years, holding several senior vice president positions at Telefônica-Vivo.   There, he led the B2B and B2C São Paulo market and Strategic Planning.  He also served on several boards including Great Place to Work, VR Beneficios, and Wine (top e-commerce wine distributor in Brazil).  Our newly appointed Brazil Country Manager will bring his strong leadership skills and breadth of experience into the new role.

Estanislau Bassols holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of São Paulo; an MBA in Finance from IBMEC; an MBA in Business Management from FIA and a Global Executive MBA from the London School of Economics, the New York University, and HEC in Paris.
