He makes the magic happen in cybersecurity

The People Powering Our Tech is a video series featuring Mastercard employees who help fuel the company’s innovation. This time, we meet Ulises Galeano, director of information security engineering at the company’s St. Louis Tech Hub who moonlights as a magician.  

Galeano began teaching himself magic tricks as a child, and his creativity, dedication and ability to solve challenges serves him well on the stage and on the job. In fact, he calls his global team of engineers “magicians” — they manage the security of all applications at Mastercard, looking at technology through the eyes of hackers, identifying the weak spots of systems to ensure they can secure them. And besides, as he quotes celebrated science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke, “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
