Mastercard announces new leadership appointments in Corporate Security

Ron Green named Mastercard Fellow to drive innovation in security; Michael Lashlee will lead Corporate Security

As part of its ongoing commitment to cybersecurity innovation, Mastercard announced Chief Security Officer Ron Green will become a Mastercard Fellow, a newly developed role for executives recognized as thought leaders to drive innovation within the company as well as in the payments industry as a whole.

In his new role, Green will advance and support one of the company’s most important strategic priorities: making the digital world safer and more secure for everyone. His work will include building upon relationships with key partners in both the public and private sectors, such as the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Cybersecurity Advisory Committee, the U.S. Secret Service’s Cyber Investigation Advisory Board, the Aspen Institute and the newly formed G7 Cyber Experts Industry Group. He will also continue developing cohesive security and cyber practices within Mastercard, and he will advocate for strong law and policy through work with government and regulatory agencies throughout the world.

“I'm honored to have led Mastercard’s Corporate Security team over the last decade and am proud of all the work we’ve done together. As my time in the role comes to a close, I’m excited to take on a new challenge and work to take cybersecurity to the next step in terms of policy and practices throughout the digital ecosystem,” says Green, a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Secret Service who has worked in private sector cybersecurity for 20 years. “At its core, this role is really a reflection of how deeply Mastercard cares about security and how seriously we take our responsibility as global leaders in this space.”

Michael Lashlee will take over Green’s role as chief security officer, where he will oversee all information and physical security operations at Mastercard. As deputy chief security officer, Lashlee has helped Mastercard converge its approach to both physical and cyber security, thus modernizing and expanding its security scope.

“I am thrilled to lead our team of experts as they continue their work in strengthening cybersecurity throughout the world,” says Lashlee, who spent 25 years at the U.S. Secret Service before joining Mastercard. “During my seven years here, I have witnessed the impact of taking a global view of security as well as partnering with both the private and public sector, and I remain committed to this approach.”

Green and Lashlee’s appointments will take effect on Jan. 9, 2024.
